Colep scoops British Aerosol Manufacturers’ Association award
Colep is proud to announce they have won the British Aerosol Manufacturers' Association (BAMA) award in the Economic and Sustainability category, for developing the innovative aerosol soft drink "Turbo Tango" by Britvic Plc.
At the annual BAMA Forum on October 11, Colep were presented with the award for their innovative approach, development support, and creation of bespoke manufacturing equipment, developed to fill and pack the breakthrough plastic aerosol.
Specific valve crimping techniques were developed by Colep’s facility in Vale de Cambra, Portugal, in order to create robust filling of the plastic aerosol. Colep worked closely with Britvic to ensure all necessary controls and legislative requirements were met throughout the process.
In bestowing this award BAMA recognised Colep’s drive to embrace innovative new dispensing systems to create new market categories in the aerosol, specifically with a new plastic aerosol.
Turbo Tango is a new take on Britvic’s iconic Tango fizzy orange canned drink, in the form of a foaming aerosol, applied directly into the mouth. The product is aimed at the youth market and explores consumer demands for new and exciting applications and sensory products.
Managing Director of Colep’s Product Supply Group, Dr Jens Peter Wulf collected the award and said “It is fantastic that Colep have been recognised for their part in bringing this new and exciting pack format to market. The award is recognition of our creative approach and the successful open innovation collaboration with our customer Britvic”. He went on to finally add that “this product paves the way for many more exciting applications in plastic aerosols, and we anticipate future growth in this pack format”.
